She can hear!

As you all know by now I am a huge fan of assistive technology. This woman is 29 and heard her own voice for the first time, talk about exciting.

I was born deaf and 8 weeks ago I received a hearing implant. This is the video of them turning it on and me hearing myself for the first time :) Edit: For those of you who have asked the implant I received was Esteem offered by Envoy Medical.

Can you imagine how amazing and overwhelming this must be for her?

For thousands of years people have dreamed of miracles, they wrote mythical tales of the deaf being able to hear and people with all kinds of disabilities being healed. Today, thanks to the wonders of modern science the deaf can hear, the lame can walk, and the mute can speak. It's no miracle and it requires no faith, it's science.
